In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the world renown Lithuanian-American archeologist and anthropologist Marija Gimbutas, the General Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Chicago and Lithuanian Culture Institute invite you to join a virtual lecture and Q&A:
“Between Archaeology and Feminism: Great Goddess in the Work of Marija Gimbutas”

February 12-25 The debut feature film Isaac / Isaac by director Jurgis Matulevičius will also be screened at the legendary US film festival Slamdance, which will take place virtually throughout the USA. The film, based on a work of the same name by Antanas Škėma, tells about the events of the Holocaust and their personal consequences in Lithuania.
For the first time ever a Lithuanian film, a debut director’s Jurgis Matulevicius’ movie Isaac / Izaokas drama story about Holocaust, will be shown during the legendary Slamdance festival Feb 12-25.
This festival selects innovative works and seeks to discover promising film directors. This is the first Lithuanian film at this festival.

To commemorate February 16, the Youth Center Council and the Lithuanian School in Chicago are holding a commemoration on February 13. and invites the community to participate. The commemoration will contribute 12v. In the garden of the Youth Center by raising flags and honoring freedom fighters. After the tribute, all participants are invited to chat over snacks and hot drinks at the Youth Center.
The American Lithuanian Council will present a mobile exhibition “The Road to Freedom”.
The commemoration of the Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania will take place on Sunday, February 14, at 11 am. morning St. In the parish church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.
In the program:
11:00 am – St. Mass.
After Mass – greetings and a musical program. The guest of the program is Lithuanian vocalist, composer, arranger from New York – Simona Smirnova.
After the commemoration in the church – outdoor conversation, Lithuanian food, hot drinks.

Find out more »On Saturday, February 20, at 12 noon, the NON-TRADITIONAL Festival of Šiupinys will take place at the Youth Center. Everyone is welcome to pre-order a pack. You can pick it up (with delicious extras) at the Youth Center from noon. to 2 p.m. p.p., or with home delivery after 2 p.m. Book and help mark this 60-year-old tradition. The price of the package is $ 20 (buying on site or taking it out), $ 25 (with home delivery), kvass $ 2. You will be able to take it out, or have lunch at the Youth Center from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
There will also be a lottery to support Lithuanian activities in the Königsberg region (six lottery tickets for $ 5 dollars).
