Written and performed by Audrė Budrys Nakas

“As if in a story… Liūnė Sutema – woman and poet”

is the story of Zinaida Nagytė-Katiliškienė – poet Liūnė Sutema, who was born in Lithuania in 1927, but fled her native land during the Second World War. She lived most of her life in a small town outside of Chicago, longing for her homeland and turning her sorrow into brilliant poetry. Though Liūnė Sutema was awarded the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts in 2007, she never returned to Lithuania. The piece includes moments from the life of Zina Katiliškienė as well as the poetry of Liūnė Sutema. The play is performed in Lithuanian. Length of performance: 1 hour 10 minutes.
