The spring concert “Sustok… pasiklausyk” (“Wait a moment … listen”) on Sat., March 2 will feature works by the patriarch of Lithuanian classical music, Juozas Naujalis, in honor of the 150 year anniversary of his birth, as well as works by other Lithuanian composers such as Augustinas, Zakaras, Daugirdas, Matutis, and Govėdas. Also featured will be Rockford native Jake Runestad’s incredibly moving and socially relevant piece “Please Stay: An Anthem of Hope and Suicide Prevention”. Lastly, soloists and chamber orchestra will join “Dainava” in a performance of Franz Schubert’s Mass in G, one of the most popular classical masterpieces of the 18th century. The Lecture “Musical findings in the Balzekas Museum Music Collection”. Prof. dr. Darius Kučinskas, a recipient of a grant from the Baltic American Freedom Foundation, will present the results of his year-long research and archival work at the Balzekas museum.
