A coming-of-age story is colored by the upheavals of recent Lithuanian history in this visually impressive first feature. Set in 1992, the film centers on 12-year-old Kovas, who was raised in America after his mother Vikorija fled Lithuania during the Soviet occupation. Now, with her marriage collapsing and Lithuania gaining independence, she returns to her homeland in the hope of reclaiming the family property that had been seized by the Soviets. In Lithuanian, English, and Russian with English subtitles.
